LIFE STORY & LEGACY FILMS IN SANTA FE

Max Highstein Photography

Preserve the stories, voice, photographs, and memories of someone you love in a professionally crafted video biography.

A Life Story Film is a personal documentary built around thoughtfully guided interviews—with the person at its center and, when desired, the family members, close friends, colleagues, and others who know them best. Filmed at my Desert Heart studio or on location, I weave together their stories with family photographs, home movies, letters, meaningful locations, and archival material to create a lasting film for the people who matter most.

A Thoughtful, Comfortable Process

You do not need to know how to tell the story or conduct an interview. I help prepare the questions, create a calm recording environment, organize the visual material, and shape it into a film your family can return to for years.

For organizations and businesses

I also create documentary-style films that preserve the history of organizations, businesses, and community institutions. These projects can bring together interviews with founders, leaders, longtime employees, customers, and community members with archival photographs, footage, and documents. Ideal for anniversaries, retirements, founder stories, milestone events, fundraising, websites, and internal communications. Based in Santa Fe, I work with families, businesses, nonprofits, and community institutions throughout New Mexico.

Documentary Interview Experience

A meaningful life-story film depends on careful interviewing, strong listening, cinematic visuals, clear sound, and thoughtful editing. I bring those same documentary skills to organizations, businesses, and personal and family stories.

What a Life Story Film Can Include

  • A relaxed filmed interview
  • Conversations with family, friends, or colleagues and others who know them well
  • Family photographs, home movies, letters, and archival material
  • Filming at home, in the studio, or at meaningful locations
  • A finished film to share and keep

A Bespoke Documentary Process

Every Life Story Film is developed around the person, the available history and visual material, and the family’s hopes for the finished work. I guide the project from the first conversation through filming, editing, and delivery, creating a film that is personal, carefully crafted, and made to endure.
