Max Highstein

Max Highstein owns and operates the studio known as Desert Heart Multimedia. Max is a multitalented filmmaker, photographer, music composer, and author. He places a priority on creative projects that bring happiness and healing to the world.

Max Highstein’s film and photography highlights the heart and soul of his subjects. His work tends to be warm, inviting, and sometimes whimsical. His recent film for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter has garnered glowing reviews; his latest music video won a One Earth Award, and was featured in the Santa Fe Film Festival; and a photoshoot of his was featured in the Fall 2024 issue of Detaron Mag, a fashion publication.

Max’s music includes over a dozen albums, has received substantial airplay worldwide, and topped the Roots Music Report chart. His music has won Global Music Awards, Clousine International Music Awards, and New Mexico Music Awards.

In addition to his creative work, Max holds two MA Degrees in counseling, and has produced an extensive catalog of related media. His guided meditation audio recordings have sold over 100,000 copies over the years, and his book, The Healing Waterfall, 100 Guided Imagery Scripts for Counselors, Healers, & Clergy (now in both English and Spanish) is in use by thousands of influential figures around the world.

The Desert Heart studio is located in Eldorado, a sprawling subdivision a few minutes from Santa Fe proper. A favorite among authors and publishers for audiobook recording, the studio is a comfortable and creative place to work. Max lives in the adjoining home with his wife and dog. He’s a daily walker, a fly-fisher, and a cook. A thoughtful communicator, he would much rather talk on the phone than text.

Most of all, he enjoys making things just so.
