Welcome to Desert Heart Multimedia.

I’m Max Highstein, the owner/operator of the studio just outside Santa Fe, specializing in filmmaking, photography, and audio production. My work spans personal projects and commercial campaigns alike, partnering with both newcomers and seasoned professionals. Every project receives my full attention, with top quality and creative excellence.

Experience & Achievements

Over the years, I’ve built a multi-faceted career in music, audio recording, photography, film, and writing. My background includes two master’s degrees in counseling, which deepen my understanding of storytelling, communication, and working with people from diverse backgrounds. My experience spans documentary and commercial production, editorial and portrait photography, composing, audiobook recording, and more.

Music, Media, and Publications

My music catalog includes more than a dozen albums with global airplay. I’ve created a library of guided meditation recordings and authored The Healing Waterfall, now available in English and Spanish. My studio frequently supports audiobook production and media work for other authors, musicians, and creatives.

Desert Heart is a fully-equipped, comfortable space where clients can record, shoot, and produce compelling work. Authors, filmmakers, and musicians choose to work here for the personal support and technical expertise I provide. I’m flexible, process-oriented, and committed to delivering consistently high-quality results.
